Many of you have been, just like me, very frustrated to find out that your MacBook laptop is not really a laptop, but a notebook. These machines run so hot that people have reported severe lap burns. I’ve personally tried many solutions to reduce the heat on my laps, and they all failed one way or another. For example, my newly acquired Vantec LapCool didn’t help (at all) and is a pain in the neck to carry around.
I’m glad to announce that I finally found what I believe to be the best solution to the nasty MacBook and MacBook Pro heat problem! It’s my Targus laptop sleeve! My laps now barely get hot!
I bought mine at Best Buy for $20 (couldn’t find it online). They also sell the exact same in green (rebadged under another brand) at the Apple Store for $30. The sleeve seems to be the ideal white MacBook companion: it protected mine against scratches, it is ultra-light, portable and now protects my laps!
I can only recommend running out and getting one.

It may be keeping your lap cool, but a soft sleeve like that will prevent air from properly circulating under the MacBook and maybe even block the vents. Blocking proper ventilation this way could result in shortenin the laptop’s life.

There’s no vent or fan under a MacBook.
