Straight from Denny’s, I am pleased to announce the immediate availability of Ajaxwhois 2.0. The site has been completely redesigned and should now be easier (and funnier!) to use. It also features improved performance and searching for domains without entering an extension. As always, Ajaxwhois continues its supports for every existing domain name extension.
Ajaxwhois 2.0 is still in development. If you find bugs, have comments or suggestions, please forward them to me.
I hope you enjoy. Thank you!
Carl

Hey,
I really like AJAXwhois, and this new version adds some great features.
I think the simplicity of it’s been lost a bit though, it’s quite busy now, I preferred the basic, lean design of the original.
Great site though apart from that, next time I buy a domain name I’ll buy it through your site!

Thanks for your comment Kevin! If you have ideas to improve the site, I’d like to hear them. Have a great day!

Just found ajaxwhois… I like it!
Just wondering why you moved from .net to RoR to Python & Django?
What happen to RoR?
We have drank enough of Microsoft’s Kool-aid and are looking at RoR.

Basically, I had plenty of weird problems with Mongrel and I couldn’t find out how to fix them, so after 2 weeks of cursing, I decided to rewrite it in Python. I have many friends who are very skilled with Rails/Mongrel and they had no idea either. Basically, Mongrel would “die” in the middle of the night for no reason (zero traffic), or it would peak the CPU. Weird stuff.
RoR is a much better platform to develop with than Django, however. I am back at Rails for my new project and I just hope I won’t have all these issues again. Django/Python has the advantage of being easier to deploy (mod_python) and using less resources than Ruby… but Rails is so much more fun and faster to develop with!
