How stupid can an American bank teller be?

I called a bank in the USA, and I asked the teller, “Do you have branches in Delaware?”
He replied: “Hmmm… Delaware, which state is that in?”!
Come on! Give me a break already!

That’s absurd… I guess an optimist though, and don’t think this kind of stupidity is widespread!
